Killer Mike has initiated legal action against the security company involved in his arrest during the 2024 Grammy Awards. The incident, which involved a citizen’s arrest by a security guard from S & S Labor Force, resulted in the rapper being escorted from the venue in handcuffs. At the time, Killer Mike attributed the event to “an over-zealous security guard” and the ensuing confusion among his team regarding post-award procedures. Despite being booked for misdemeanor battery, he ultimately faced no criminal charges.
In the lawsuit, the Atlanta rapper accuses S & S Labor Force of exceeding their security responsibilities, claiming they sought to “degrade, embarrass and physically hurt” him, leading to “unnecessary public embarrassment, distress and professional harm.” The legal documents state that the security guard’s actions led to his “false arrest” and confinement during the Grammy event, denying him the opportunity to “appear on primetime television in front of a significant international audience.” The suit also alleges that the guard “physically assaulted and battered him” by improperly grabbing his arm in an attempt to prevent him from leaving.
The lawsuit includes allegations of false arrest and imprisonment, assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. S & S Labor Force has responded, labeling the claims as “unfounded.” The security guard involved claimed that Killer Mike retaliated during the incident by pushing her.
Killer Mike celebrated a successful night at the 2024 Grammys, taking home three prestigious awards: Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album.
