A highly anticipated showdown between Tom Creen and Master Breffni is set to headline today’s racing events at Sedgefield, featuring seven exciting races.
2:35 Sedgefield – Tom Creen Faces Off Against Master Breffni
Tom Creen, trained by Sam England, is coming off a victory at this track on Boxing Day, marking his fifth win here. While he is dropping in distance for this race, a 3lb rise in the weights appears justified as he looks to maintain his successful run.
Master Breffni is still seeking his first victory after six attempts over fences but showcased potential with a strong second-place finish at Catterick last month. He is expected to be a serious contender today, with Conor O’Farrell in the saddle.
Additionally, Hold Onto The Line, trained by James Ewert, finished third at Musselburgh on Sunday and aims to replicate that performance under the guidance of Brian Hughes.
4:35 Sedgefield – Winds Of Winter and Addosh Amongst 11 Competitors
James Owen has had an outstanding season across both flat and jump racing. He will be presenting topweight Addosh in this race. After a challenging couple of outings, she drops in class and benefits from a 5lbs claim by jockey Ben Bromley.
Winds Of Winter remains without a win after eleven jump starts but demonstrated promise by finishing third on her chase debut at Musselburgh. She returns to hurdles today, offering an each-way chance with Brian Hughes riding under Iain Jardine’s training.
Among the other competitors, Love True seeks redemption after finishing second in her previous race and will look to recover from a fall at Catterick. The return to a distance of two miles and one furlong should be beneficial, with Henry Brooke set to ride.
2:05 Sedgefield – Zwicky and Twp Stori in a Competitive Handicap
Twp Stori secured his second win over hurdles by triumphing in a handicap at Lingfield before a respectable fourth-place effort at Uttoxeter. He is anticipated to perform well with a step up in distance under jockey Gavin Sheehan.
Philip Kirby’s Zwicky, with three course wins to his name, chased down Catch Catchfire in the previous month and is one to watch, running off the same mark.
The Questioner and Dequall also make the shortlist for this competitive race.
