Prime Minister Narendra Modi made headlines on Tuesday with a pointed remark aimed at the late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, suggesting that while Gandhi frequently spoke about the 21st century, he was ultimately “disconnected from reality.” Referring to a noteworthy cartoon by RK Laxman, PM Modi emphasized that Gandhi’s rhetoric amounted to mere wishful thinking, or ‘hawa hawai’.
“Essential initiatives that should have been accomplished 40-50 years ago are finally being realized today,” Modi stated during his response to the motion of thanks on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha. He highlighted that the government’s focus has been on energizing youth and fostering nation-building efforts, following the mandate given by the public.
