A recent investigation has uncovered troubling details about the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk. The findings reveal that the department is predominantly staffed by recent college graduates, many of whom lack significant government experience, with at least one still pursuing their degree.
This group of young recruits, including newly appointed Chief of Staff Amanda Scales, is integral to Musk’s efforts to extend his influence across various federal agencies.
Notably, links have emerged connecting some of these new staff members to billionaire Peter Thiel. Their affiliations with Thiel’s fellowship program underscore his growing impact in both the tech industry and libertarian political circles.
Elon Musk’s DOGE team attempts takeover of USAID
While an executive order signed by Donald Trump restricts Musk’s power to the U.S. Digital Service, several of his allies, including these inexperienced software engineers, have secured crucial positions within the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the General Services Administration (GSA), which oversees federal construction and management.
The investigation revealed the inclusion of six young men, aged 19 to 24, identified in internal OPM documents as “experts” or “special advisors” to the agency’s director. These individuals, such as Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, and others, were previously interns at Musk’s companies or major tech firms before being rapidly placed in government roles without thorough vetting.

Despite their limited qualifications, documents indicate that these individuals have been issued official GSA emails and high-level security clearances, providing them access to sensitive information and IT systems within the agency.
According to anonymous sources, Edward Coristine, a recent high school graduate and current student at Northeastern University, has already participated in calls requiring GSA employees to justify their code and job roles.
This revelation raises serious concerns regarding Musk’s recent budget cuts, which appear to be more about consolidating power than fiscal responsibility. Musk has made moves to seize control of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which manages substantial foreign aid budgets. Alarmingly, he has also influenced the U.S. Treasury’s payment systems, critical for overseeing the federal government’s vast $6 trillion budget.
While Musk and his associates claim they possess only “read-only” access to the Treasury’s payment systems, this unprecedented scenario allows a group of unverified tech operatives to exert influence over the financial mechanisms of the U.S. government.
