Hardcore gamers face serious accusations of data theft and abusive behavior towards rivals

Cybercrime units made a significant arrest on Friday, detaining a member of an notorious gaming group following the release of disturbing videos displaying acts of abuse and dehumanization. The accused, identified as Adipat Kamlangkua, 23, was taken into custody after police analyzed a video linked to the group known as “Oreo.”
According to law enforcement officials, the video, filmed on December 3, depicts a victim being coerced into humiliating acts. The investigation delved into reports of organized harassment against rival gamers, with the group allegedly utilizing stolen personal data for intimidation purposes.
Pol Lt Gen Trairong Phiewpan of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau reported that Adipat admitted to being part of an online community that targets individuals engaged in conflicts with their members. The group reportedly employs a page administrator, who is also facing charges, to gather personal information illegally for as little as 500 baht.
The police have confirmed that although some claims suggested access to government databases, evidence points to the personal data being sourced from private companies that collect user information.
Further investigations revealed additional allegations against the group’s leader, known as “Ta,” who was implicated in a separate case involving violent behavior.
