President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, is set to embark on a historic visit to the Republic of Türkiye from January 15-19, 2025, following an invitation from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This significant State Visit coincides with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Türkiye, marking the first visit by a Mongolian president to Türkiye in two decades.
Upon arrival at Ankara Esenboğa International Airport, President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa was warmly welcomed by Türkiye’s Minister of the Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, alongside the Mongolian Ambassador.
During the State Visit, both leaders are scheduled to engage in a tête-à-tête, official negotiations, and a joint press briefing. Key discussions will focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including environment, infrastructure, transport, and law. The nations are expected to formalize over 10 cooperation documents, along with Intergovernmental Agreements pertaining to youth, sports, education, and health.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on June 24, 1969, both countries have fostered a Comprehensive Partnership. Mongolia inaugurated its embassy in Ankara in 1997, following Türkiye’s establishment of its embassy in Ulaanbaatar in 1996. Previous high-level State Visits have laid the foundation for the robust relationship enjoyed today.
