Exciting news for Paramore fans: Rusty Williams, the 78-year-old grandfather of Hayley Williams, is set to release his debut album, Grand Man, through Congrats Records, a label founded by Zac Farro. Originally recorded in the 1970s, the album was recently rediscovered by his production partner and is now ready for public enjoyment. The lead single and opening track, “Knocking (At Your Door),” has a video available for fans to enjoy.
Hayley Williams has known about her grandfather’s album throughout her life but was surprised to discover it truly existed. Upon learning of its existence, she and Zac Farro encouraged Rusty Williams to share his musical talent with the world.
In contrast to her grandfather’s lengthy wait, Hayley Williams released her music early; she was just 16 when Paramore debuted with All We Know Is Falling in 2005. She later ventured into a solo career, making her debut with Petals for Armor in 2020, which features a sample of Rusty Williams’ track “Friends or Lovers” in her song “Crystal Clear.”
