UK / BVI – The British Virgin Islands government has announced the election of Dr. Natalio Wheatley as the new president of the UK Overseas Territories Association (UKOTA). He will also serve as president of the political council, while Tracy Bradshaw, the UK representative and director of the BVI London Office, will take on the role of chair of UKOTA.
This leadership transition highlights a firm commitment to collaborative governance and the advocacy of the interests of all UK Overseas Territories.
“As we approach 2025, UKOTA aims to build on the momentum generated during our 30th-anniversary celebration, which represents a crucial step in our ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation among member territories,” the government department stated. “UKOTA serves as a vital forum for fostering dialogue and collaboration, ensuring every member territory, regardless of size or economic status, possesses an equitable voice in our joint initiatives. We remain dedicated to prioritizing the needs and perspectives of smaller territories, integrating their concerns into all discussions and representations.”
“As the official representative body for the UK Overseas Territories in the United Kingdom, UKOTA empowers us to advocate for our collective interests in a unified manner. Engaging closely is essential to ensure that the diverse voices of our territories are articulated and respected.”
Premier Wheatley stated:
