Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that team captain Kyle Walker has requested to leave the club.
The 34-year-old defender was notably absent from City’s squad during their remarkable 8-0 victory over Salford in the FA Cup on Saturday. In his post-match comments, Guardiola revealed, “He’d like to explore another country to play his last years, for many reasons. And for that reason, I preferred playing other players.”
Walker joined Manchester City from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017 for a reported fee of £50 million.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story as the January transfer window remains open.
