Near the end of 2023, the Adegboyega family experienced an unimaginable loss when two of their sons drowned during a Christmas celebration at Ibeshe Beach in Lagos. In April 2024, the beach became the site of another tragedy when 34-year-old activist Fawaz Alabi drowned while swimming. His loss sent shockwaves through the community and raised alarm about the increasing number of drowning incidents at Nigerian beaches.
