Candy Crush Expands Its Universe with Candy Crush Solitaire Launching Soon
Candy Crush is adding a new installment to its beloved franchise, introducing Candy Crush Solitaire. This fresh take on the classic card game incorporates the franchise’s vibrant aesthetic while diverging from the traditional match-three gameplay that fans are accustomed to. This release marks the first Candy Crush title following the acquisition of developer King by Microsoft.
Candy Crush Solitaire will adopt the tripeaks solitaire format, where players clear three “peaks” of cards. The game will include iconic power-ups from Candy Crush, such as jellyfish, the lollipop hammer, the color bomb, and the UFO, albeit with gameplay mechanics tailored specifically for solitaire. As players advance, they will encounter increasingly challenging twists on the traditional solitaire experience.
Scheduled for a global launch on February 6, players can now pre-register on their preferred app store to secure in-game rewards, including 5,000 Coins, four undos, two fish cards, and three color bomb cards.
Since the completion of the acquisition of Activision Blizzard—which encompasses King—Microsoft has focused on strengthening its presence in the mobile market. Xbox leadership had previously indicated that the acquisition was largely driven by the potential of King and the mobile gaming landscape, as they work to expand their offerings beyond traditional console gaming.
