Smart rings are gaining popularity, but they often fall short in terms of quality and design. That trend may be shifting with the introduction of the Ultrahuman Rare line, featuring Ring Air models elegantly coated in luxurious materials like platinum and 18-karat gold.
Highlights from CES 2025
In terms of functionality, the Ultrahuman Rare line does not differ from the standard Ring Air beyond its weight. Both models are equipped with the same advanced sensors and technology. While the Ultrahuman smart rings are among the best in the market, it is important to remember that they are still electronic devices, which may require replacement over time unlike traditional 18-karat gold rings. An on-site preview of the new line at CES 2025 showcased their striking design.
Premium Appeal
During a visit to the Ultrahuman booth at CES 2025, company representatives noted an increasing demand for higher-end smart rings that could serve as alternatives to traditional wedding or engagement bands. The intent behind these requests is still being clarified, whether customers seek complete replacements for their wedding bands or options for occasional wear.
Regardless of their intended purpose, the rings offer a polished look. However, they may not appear significantly more luxurious than the gold-plated alternatives already available on the market. Color options include Desert Rose, a rose gold-like variant; Desert Snow, made of platinum; and the gold Dune. The Dune and Desert Rose options feature 18-karat gold, while the Desert Snow offers PT950 platinum.
The shift to precious metals undoubtedly affects pricing. The typical Ultrahuman Ring Air retails at approximately $350, while the 18-karat gold variant is priced at around $2,250. This steep cost is somewhat offset by a lifetime membership to UltraHuman X, which comes with extended warranty coverage and access to additional features, though these may not sufficiently justify the price premium. Importantly, these premium models also include upgraded packaging and a premium charging dock.
Advanced Technology
Though the Ultrahuman Ring Air Rare shares its technology with the standard model, this is an advantageous feature. The Ultrahuman Ring Air boasts high-end capabilities, including heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, cycle tracking, skin temperature evaluation, and more. Its user-friendly app enhances the experience by providing stress tracking, a valuable tool during hectic events like CES.
The sleep-tracking feature is particularly beneficial, utilizing heart rate variability and sleep efficiency data to offer actionable recommendations for improving sleep quality. Notably, all core functionalities do not require a subscription, with the Ultrahuman X subscription solely covering warranty benefits.
However, it’s important to remember that smart rings, like all gadgets, are not permanent fixtures. They generally have a limited life cycle of a few years before obsolescence or battery failure necessitates an upgrade. Therefore, consumers may want to consider less expensive options if they prioritize aesthetics over longevity.
