Newcastle is set to host an exciting all-weather meeting today, featuring a total of seven thrilling races.
2:03 Newcastle – Fireblade and Royal Approval in Strong Novice Battle
In a highly competitive novice race, Andrew Balding’s Royal Approval will aim to give weight to the competition after an impressive victory at Sandown. This horse displayed strong potential by taking the lead in a 10-furlong novice event, and the upcoming distance is expected to suit him well.
Fireblade, trained by John and Thady Gosden and sibling to racing superstar Cracksman, will be looking to break his maiden after consistently placing in his past outings. He benefits from the ride by Benoit de la Sayette.
Adding intrigue to the mix is Northern Ruler, making his debut for the Karl Burke stable after transferring from William Haggas. With experience from three races and strong performances, he looks to be a contender despite recent disappointing results.
2:33 Newcastle – Mondammej and Al Farabi Take Center Stage
Mondammej has shown remarkable improvement following wind surgery, with two wins and a second place in his last four races. Competing at this level poses a great opportunity for him to maintain his momentum, even while running 2lbs heavier.
After a promising fourth-place finish behind Brooklyn Nine at Southwell, Al Farabi is set to drop in grade under Clifford Lee’s guidance and is anticipated to perform well. Other notable contenders include dual course winner Strong Johnson and the consistent Sugar Hill Babe, who enjoyed success during the Autumn.
1:33 Newcastle – Percy Willis vs. Humble Spark
This race pits Humble Spark, fresh off a course victory and stepping up in trip with rider Paul Mulrennan, against Percy Willis, a six-time all-weather winner. Jedd O’Keeffe’s Percy Willis will have to elevate his game after finishing fifth against Humble Spark in their last meeting.
Best of the Rest
Paul Mulrennan boasts a strong lineup at Gosforth Park, including a ride on previous course winner Dandy Magic in the 1:03 PM race. He will also be on Annandale in the 3:03 PM, who could pose a threat if he gets a good start from stall three.
As Newcastle’s exciting all-weather action unfolds, all races will be available for live viewing throughout the day.
