Capcom has unveiled exciting new gameplay mechanics in its upcoming title, Monster Hunter Wilds, through a series of engaging videos. Building on the foundation set by Monster Hunter Rise, the latest installment aims to enhance accessibility for newcomers while providing seasoned players with fresh challenges. A standout feature is the new Focus Mode, which allows players to precisely aim their strikes and set up guards, targeting where the camera is directed. This mode also highlights wounds on monsters—inflicted by repeated attacks on the same spot—enabling players to deliver devastating damage to these vulnerable areas.
Monster Hunter Wilds introduces additional gameplay elements, including the innovative wrist-mounted “Slinger” crossbow. Players can collect materials from the environment to unleash disorienting shots against monsters or retrieve nearby items. The game also offers a sneak peek at a unique mount, distinct from others in the genre, and demonstrates effective techniques for wielding a great sword in combat.
Scheduled for release in 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Capcom is leveraging the capabilities of next-gen consoles to present more formidable monsters during hunts. In a recent update, game director Yuya Tokuda highlighted the inclusion of large herds and apex monsters, promising dynamic encounters. Furthermore, multiplayer matchmaking improvements aim to foster a more seamless co-op experience, enhancing team play for players tackling the untamed wilderness together.
