Tiger Woods Praises Son Charlie’s ‘Unlimited’ Potential After Hole-in-One at PNC Championship
Tiger Woods has commended his son, Charlie, for showcasing remarkable talent after scoring a hole-in-one during their runner-up finish at the PNC Championship. The legendary golfer highlighted Charlie’s potential, stating that his ceiling for success in golf is “unlimited”.
Competing in the exclusive 36-hole scramble tournament, only past winners of a major or The Players Championship are eligible to participate alongside family. The Woods duo began strongly with a stellar opening-round score of 59 at the Ritz-Carlton Club in Florida. Charlie’s thrilling hole-in-one, the first of his young career, significantly boosted their chances during the final day.
The father-son pair concluded the event with an impressive 15-under 57, tying for the top spot at 28 under alongside Bernhard Langer and his son, Jason, who ultimately clinched victory with a dramatic eagle in the first playoff hole. Woods has previously referred to the PNC Championship as his “fifth major,” and this year marked his fifth consecutive participation, with pride in his son’s burgeoning skills.
“He [Charlie] has gotten better at every facet of the game,” Woods remarked. “It’s incredible what he has accomplished so far, and his potential is limitless.”
Charlie’s impressive hole-in-one came on the par-three fourth hole, where he expertly delivered a seven-iron shot to within six feet of the cup, watching it roll in for the ace. Tiger expressed the thrill of sharing that moment, emphasizing the importance of bonding and family in golf.
Despite their runner-up finish, Woods reflected positively on the competition. “We may not have won, but it was about the experience and competing,” he stated.
Moving forward, Tiger Woods is focused on his health after undergoing back surgery in September, and he has plans to participate in the inaugural TGL indoor golf league starting in January. While he admitted he is not yet in competitive shape, Woods remains optimistic about his progress as he prepares for the upcoming season.
