The Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department’s State Task Force conducted successful raids in Hyderabad, resulting in the seizure of nearly three kilograms of ganja on December 18, 2024.
In one operation, 1.47 kilograms of ganja were recovered from the residence of Kishna Singh in Dhoolpet following a tip-off. Authorities apprehended Kishna Singh and Vikash Singh while a case has been registered against their associates: Indresh Singh, Neet Bai, Gautam Singh, and Govind Singh, who are currently being sought.
In a separate incident in Lal Darwaza, 1.44 kilograms of ganja were confiscated from another residence. Those involved, including P. Nagaraju, Ujwala Sai Kumar Raju, K. Soujanya, and Sheikh Ghulam, face legal action for their alleged involvement in the drug trade.
Moreover, in a coordinated effort between the West Zone Task Force and Banjara Hills police, S. Prem Kumar, aged 21, was arrested along with two consumers for possessing two kilograms of ganja. Prem Kumar, an animation operator, had reportedly procured the drugs from a source in Narsipatnam, Visakhapatnam, before attempting to resell them in smaller packages in Banjara Hills.
Raid Results in Seizure of Non-Duty Paid Liquor
In a related operation, the State Task Force seized 35 bottles of non-duty paid liquor worth ₹1.05 lakh during a raid at M/S Heart Cup Cafe Restaurant and Bar in Medchal. Allegations suggest that the bar was selling liquor obtained from a nearby shop to avoid taxes.
Assistant Commissioner R Kishan stated, “The vodka and whiskey bottles were barcoded, indicating they were sourced from another location rather than purchased locally from the depot, allowing the bar owner to evade tax obligations.” A case has been filed against the bar owner, with investigations ongoing.
