On December 17, Megan Thee Stallion submitted a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court seeking a restraining order against Tory Lanez. The rapper alleges that Lanez, currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting her in 2020, has been harassing her from behind bars through third-party surrogates. A court hearing for the restraining order has been set for January 9.
Megan’s petition outlines that prison call logs from Tehachapi reveal Lanez has purportedly coordinated efforts to undermine her credibility. It cites various bloggers allegedly acting on Lanez’s behalf to spread false claims about the case, including assertions regarding missing evidence such as the firearm used and bullet fragments.
“Even now, while behind bars, Mr. Peterson shows no signs of stopping,” reads the petition. “Despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Ms. Pete, he continues to subject her to repeated trauma and revictimization.” It also notes that the previously issued protective order has expired, indicating a loophole that can further endanger victims.
Following the resolution of her three-year legal battle against Lanez, Megan Thee Stallion expressed her thoughts on his guilty verdict as a significant victory for survivors of violence. “As I reflect on the past three years, I view myself as a survivor, because I have truly survived the unimaginable,” she stated, emphasizing the emotional toll of her experience and the impact of public scrutiny.
