YoungBoy Never Broke Again has been sentenced to 23 months in federal prison as part of ongoing legal issues stemming from a gun case dating back to 2020. The Louisiana rapper, legally known as Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, faced multiple counts for possessing firearms as a convicted felon. He secured a global plea deal that enables four additional charges to be reduced to misdemeanors and resolves another case involving prescription fraud. He will receive credit for time already served and could potentially be released next year, followed by a 60-month probation period.
“This lengthy journey involved significant litigation and negotiation,” YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s legal team stated. “We are pleased for Kentrell and anticipate his future successes.”
The artist has been residing in Utah since 2021. Previously under house arrest for over two years, his situation changed in May when law enforcement raided his residence, alleging the discovery of evidence linked to a large-scale prescription drug fraud operation and a firearm. Last month, the rapper agreed to a plea regarding charges related to the alleged drug operation, but was not sentenced to a Utah state prison, as it was anticipated he would be serving his sentence federally.
