Amid ongoing protests across Nigeria concerning economic challenges, an unidentified man staged a nude protest in Lagos State on Thursday. His unconventional demonstration drew attention as he paraded through the streets of Ojota, accompanied by fellow demonstrators while singing “Solidarity forever.”
The protests, which have been gaining momentum, are driven by public frustration regarding the worsening economic conditions in the country. The #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria movement commenced on August 1, 2024, aiming to highlight the struggles faced by ordinary citizens.
Reports indicate that protesters in Lagos defied a court order limiting their activities to designated areas, instead taking to various streets and the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park to voice their dissent.
The Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, reassured both protesters and residents about their safety. In a recent statement, he confirmed that police presence was ensuring security throughout the protest zones.
“The area is calm!” Hundeyin remarked. He further noted that the Commissioner of Police had visited protest sites, such as Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park and others across Lagos, and found no disturbances, allowing residents to proceed with their daily activities without fear.
“Monitoring is ongoing. Your safety and security remain our priority,” he concluded.
