Air India has announced the cancellation of all flights to and from Tel Aviv as tensions escalate between Israel and Iran, leading several international airlines to temporarily suspend their operations at Ben Gurion Airport.
Major carriers, including United Airlines, Delta, Lufthansa, SWISS, Brussels Airlines, and ITA Airways, have also halted their flights to Israel due to the ongoing unrest.
The airline’s decision follows the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which Iran has attributed to Israeli actions. The strike occurred after Haniyeh attended the inauguration of Iran’s new President, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Air India has assured passengers with confirmed bookings on the affected flights that they will receive a one-time waiver for rescheduling and cancellation fees.
In addition, Lufthansa and Swiss International Air Lines have canceled all passenger and cargo flights to and from Tel Aviv effective immediately, with plans to resume operations by August 8. They have also extended the suspension of flights to Beirut until August 12.
