Introducing The Hard Quartet: a newly formed band featuring Stephen Malkmus, Matt Sweeney from Chavez, Jim White of Dirty Three, and Emmett Kelly from the Cairo Gang. The group has just released their debut single titled “Earth Hater,” accompanied by a captivating claymation music video.
In “Earth Hater,” Malkmus takes the lead as vocalist, delivering a gritty indie-rock sound that fans of Malkmus and the Jicks will find familiar, enhanced by the band’s unique fuzzy filter.
The Hard Quartet has also unveiled their inaugural live concert tour this autumn, which will include supporting acts Papa M, Weak Signal, and Tubs. The tour kicks off in Los Angeles on October 10, followed by shows in New York and London. Plans for extensive touring in 2025 have also been announced.
