Singer Taylor Swift has voiced her shock over a devastating knife attack at a dance workshop themed around her music, which tragically resulted in the deaths of three children and left nine others injured.
The incident occurred on Hart Street in Southport on Monday, shocking both the community and fans.
Expressing her grief, Swift remarked that she was “at a complete loss” in finding the words to convey her sympathies.
In response to the tragedy, her fans have raised over £70,000 to support the families of the victims affected by the attack in Merseyside.
Having recently performed in nearby Liverpool as part of her European tour in June, Swift described the “horror” of the attack, which claimed the lives of two children, left six critically injured, and affected three more.
She spoke of the “loss of life and innocence” along with the “horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone present,” leaving her searching for the right words to comfort the bereaved families.
A crowdfunding initiative called Swifties for Southport has succeeded in gathering over £74,000 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where many injured victims are being treated.
Organizers have stated that the funds will be directed to the hospital’s charitable endeavors.
In a statement, the organizers emphasized their commitment to collaborating with the hospital to “help raise money for families affected by the tragedy in Southport.”
They added that efforts are underway to “raise funeral funds for the two young Swifties who have tragically passed,” stating that every donation would go towards the hospital’s charity and aim to assist those impacted during this sorrowful time.
The brutal attack also left two adults critically injured.
A 17-year-old boy from Banks in Lancashire has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder in connection with the incident.
Authorities have indicated that the motivation behind the attack remains “unclear,” though it is not being treated as terror-related.
