ECNETNews – Bea Cukai Yogyakarta has officially granted independent bonded zone status to PT Mega Andalan Kalasan (MAK) in a move aimed at supporting and simplifying operations for local industries. This decision was announced during a symbolic ceremony held on October 22, 2024, at the Bea Cukai Yogyakarta Auditorium.
Riri Riani, the Head of the Counseling and Information Services Section at Bea Cukai Yogyakarta, highlighted that the decision letter for this independent bonded zone facility was handed over by Widia Ariadi, representing the Customs and Excise office, to Susanto Sudiro, Vice President of PT MAK.
The independent bonded zone designation allows the company to conduct its export activities without direct supervision from Customs officials in Yogyakarta. This means that processes such as document signing, stuffing supervision, and container sealing will now be managed by the company itself through a liaison officer, enhancing operational efficiency.
PT Mega Andalan Kalasan is known for manufacturing medical equipment, specifically hospital beds, with an impressive production capacity of up to 100,000 units annually. The company has successfully expanded its market to 30 countries, with exports contributing to 20% of its revenue.
Riri expressed optimism, stating, “We hope that the granting of this independent bonded zone facility will support PT MAK’s production and operations, and facilitate its role as a key player in Indonesia’s economy, particularly in the Yogyakarta region.”
