With a continuous flow of exceptional music releases, discerning the best tracks to explore can be a challenge. This week, ECNETNews highlights significant new albums now available for streaming. Featured releases include new albums from renowned artists such as the Weeknd, MIKE, Lilly Hiatt, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Joe McPhee, Ebo Taylor, Eddie Chacon, and Julia Hülsmann.
The Weeknd: Hurry Up Tomorrow [XO/Republic]
In Hurry Up Tomorrow, the Weeknd concludes the trilogy that started with 2020’s After Hours and continued with 2022’s Dawn FM. This new album could mark the last release featuring Abel Tesfaye’s alter ego, as he has suggested in recent interviews. The album’s release, initially scheduled for January 24, was postponed to honor those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires, which also resulted in the cancellation of his planned album-release concert at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl. Hurry Up Tomorrow features singles “Timeless” and “São Paulo,” but not “Dancing in the Flames.” The album includes collaborations with prominent artists such as Playboi Carti, Anitta, Lana Del Rey, Justice, Giorgio Moroder, Future, Florence and the Machine, and Travis Scott.
MIKE: Showbiz! [10k]
