Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 14 alleged internet fraudsters in a successful sting operation in Benue State.
The arrests took place along the Federal Low-Cost Housing Estate in Makurdi on August 21, 2024, based on actionable intelligence regarding the suspects’ fraudulent activities.
According to a statement from the EFCC, the individuals taken into custody include Austine Okwori, Osita Idoko Valentine, Skott King David, Thomas Ifebuche, Akor Kelvin Oche, Henry Adah, Scott Emmanuel Inalegwu, Ogbu Stephen Alpha, and Samuel Moses, along with Mustapha Nasir Adinoye, Sylvanus Samuel Ogbu, Emmanuel Adamu, and Samuel Otene.
Items confiscated from the suspects include mobile phones, laptops, and various charms. The EFCC has confirmed that the suspects will face charges in court once investigations are finalized.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by the EFCC to combat internet fraud and enhance financial security in the region.
